Portable fish/depth finders?
Anybody used any of the portable ones by chance? I have a small 10 foot boat which I use at a few small lakes and ponds and have been considering a cheaper portable unit. I'm making a trip up to Bass Pro this weekend if you know of any that are of decent quality there.
Also, on my main boat I have a depth finer in the rear which is rarely used. Would it maybe be worth taking that unit out and mounting it on my small boat? I don't have any experience hooking these things up whatsoever so that may not even be possible.

Basser, I'v seen the cams before and they seem pretty neat. How far do they tend to give a pretty clear view? Also, how does it perform in stained water?
l have a fishing buddy by bottom line. l use it on my float tube (a special attachment) or it will attach to any boat transom with the clamp that it came with.
it goes plenty deep (over a hundred feet), has a side finder and also tells water temp. runs on 3 C cell batteries.
and yes, those underwater cameras are nice but take up too much space if space is limited. visibility with one is about what you would get with a dive mask except at night, where the built in lighting keeps it the same as daytime.
in stained water, you will see stain. period.
