RFA-FL Files Suit Over Bottom Fishing Closure

Jacksonville, FL - In October the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) levied harsh criticism at the current Administration when the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council (Council) was notified by NMFS Southeast Regional Administrator Roy Crabtree that a 4,800-square mile fishing ban was pending for South Atlantic anglers. At the time, Southeast recreational anglers were expecting the worst in terms of a final ruling by NMFS to implement controversial Amendment 17A, which will ultimately establish a closed area extending from southern Georgia to Cape Canaveral, FL affecting angler harvest and possession of all snapper-grouper species.
