Can depth finder be calibrated?
I have an Eagle FishEasy 245 DS fish/depth finder whose reading is off by about 1 foot in shallow water, say 2 to 8 ft.
Can this unit be calibrated/adjusted and, if so, how?
There is a menu that allows a correction factor to be programmed in - it will be called keel variation or something like that in a set-up manual. It is common practice for some units to be set-up so zero depth is just as the keel touches - that is up to the individual and what you get used to.
If you don't have a manual you will be able to get one on-line from Eagle I expect.
Edit - having just looked at the manual it looks that this unit is very simple, and has no ability to error-correct. Oh well, looks like a nice little portable unit, anyway.
